David Kolkrabe, born in Manizales, Colombia, is a writer and holds a master’s degree in philosophy specializing in horror literature. His work combines elements of horror, philosophy, and cultural criticism, establishing him as one of the most prominent authors in the genre in Latin America.
Throughout his career, he has published three novels: Condorcet o el arte de mentir, El mito de Roger, and Misa de Difuntos, as well as a collection of short stories titled El demonio de la perversidad. In 2024, he released his novel Genealogía de nuestro miedo with Calixta Editores, a work about horror literature that, intriguingly, does not belong to the horror genre, focusing instead on its sociocultural and philosophical impact.
Kolkrabe has received several international accolades. He was the winner of the “Monstruos” call by Letrarium and Esqueleto Negro Publishing in 2021, which allowed him to publish an anthology of ten horror stories. Additionally, he was a finalist in the I International Independent Short Story Prize SoM and was selected for the Second Novel Mentorship Program (2022) by UNAM, where he collaborated with renowned authors such as Jorge Volpi and Eloy Urroz.
He is the leader of the Latin American Horror Manifesto, a movement supported by more than 500 authors across the continent.
Kolkrabe also conducts creative writing workshops focused on horror literature and discusses this genre on the podcast Hablemos de terror.
